Vitamins for Your Health

I am a huge vitamin nut and think it's really important to keep nutrients flowing to your body. I am a big proponent on taking supplements to fill in the "voids" for those foods you just don't get enough of.

* Please note: Don't just take any old vitamin or supplement without first getting examined and having blood work done by your doctor.

Nikki's Vitamins:
1. Multi-vitamin (make sure it indicates over 100%)
2. Omega 3
3. Calcium
4. Probiotics
5. D3 (Sunshine vitamin)
6. Kelp
7. Iron
8. B12
9. Vitamin C

I don't really eat too much red meat or spinach, so I have to take iron. I did go to the doctor and he told me I was deficient in it. I don't eat a lot of fish (only tuna fish but has to have all the bad stuff in it like mayonnaise, etc.) so I do take Omega's. They are essentially a fish supplement that have a lot of great benefits to taking them.

I really don't drink milk often (I do drink Almond or Soy milk occasionally in cereal) so I take my calcium. I take probiotics, as they help the bacteria in your gut. I really don't get sunshine from tanning all the time, so I take D3. I take kelp, as it is good for your thyroid (helps regulate your metabolism, along with taking B12. I take Vitamin C to keep a healthy immune system, so I don't get sick.

I am by no means a health guru, but I do want to take care of my body. If you would like to learn more info. on what certain supplements do, then please check out this website for supplements.

Come Out of the Closet!

Wanna see what Nikki's closet really looks like?

So what's exactly in a girl's closet? (well I do have some secrets to keep, so I can't show you all of them!) I used to have a dresser, but at the moment I don't currently own one. I know, I know...how could a girl not have one? Oh, and by the way (it might be a little bit messy in there...so beware!). Follow me...

In my closet, you'll see jewelry, purses, shoes, tops, etc. What you don't see behind my door is 3 large bins of clothes that don't fit anymore. You know ladies what I'm talking about, don't you? All us girls have skinny and fat clothes that we keep because one day...we might actually fit into those skinny items. Don't think that I'm keeping the fat clothes to gain weight (hell no!). However, I find it kind of hard to part with them, as I have spent some good money on them and I would think I'd be flushing down $500 or more down the toilet. What else you don't see is hanging shirts and dresses.

It may not be a big closet, but does size really matter? Well, yes it does, but when you are in a 1 bedroom, you will make due with what you have. Running out of room in there? Just empty out your fat/skinny clothes and give them to Goodwill (if you feel adventurous). Use your tubs and fill with the rest of your clothes for a room saver. Or you can put the bins underneath your bed (no one will see them if you have a bed sham). My main goal was to put up shelves above my shirts, but I sorta never got around to it. There you have it! Now you know what's lurking in my closet.
Would you be so brave to share your closet with the rest of the world? See guys- it isn't as scary as it seems. But what is, is the time it takes to dig through there to figure just what the heck to wear!

Mackinac Island

My last venture was to Mackinac Island, as it was a birthday gift to both my boyfriend and I (since we share our bdays in May). I had heard of it before, but I didn't really know quite what to expect. It is located in Michigan and takes about 9 hours to get there (so, you better love being in car with someone you love).

* Just note, that is you are looking to PARTY, then this is NOT the place for you! This is a serene place and places do not stay open late.*

If you go, this is what to expect:

1. Bike Riding
2. Ferry Ride
3. No Cars
5. Shops

Here is what to bring:

1. Gym Shoes
2. Jacket/Hoodie (you'll be by the water- gets chilly)
3. Money
4. Someone Cool (you won't get sick of)
5. Sunscreen (you are outside all day)
6. Camera

The type of person/mood you need to be in (to enjoy the trip):

1. Calm
2. Relaxed
3. Peaceful
4. Chill
5. Ability to Make Your Own Party Happen

What's in Your Fridge?

Time to show you the "Real" me...

You think you really know someone? Nah ah ah...not until you open up their medicine cabinets, drawers, and fridge! So, here is an inside look at what Nikki eats and how I stay healthy!

Dun dun dun....the FRIDGE!!
Enter if you dare!

What you see in my fridge:

1. Veggies (lettuce, celery, sugar snap peas, carrot juice)
2. Fruit (grapes, srawberries)
3. Protein (eggs, light turkey hot dogs, beans=hummus)
4. Dairy (cheese, yogurt, almond milk)

Now, I had to have some "treats" in here and yes, sometimes I really like to have a beer! I have 100% grape juice (I know, I know...it does have sugar, so I don't drink it all the time). I use creamer for my coffee which is not the best, but it tastes sooo good.

Ok, so now on to the freezer....

I freeze my whole grain bread, so it doesn't go bad (gets moldy too quickly if I don't). I have 100% juice, Boca Chicken patties (meatless but taste great), I keep quick and easy microwavable breakfast sandwiches (only 6 grams of fat and lots of protein from the egg and ham). Frozen strawberries for smoothies, and of course you have to be a little bad as I have tator tots, a breakfast skillet meal, and some ice cream bars. BUT, I eat these things in moderation, as that is the key.
